Dear Fellow Texan,
Voting in our primary elections is crucial, and here's why: the March 5th Texas primaries decide who'll be on the ballot this November, shaping our state's direction for years to come. Whether you're passionate about jobs, education, health care, energy, taxes, or freedom, voting is how you ensure those in office care about what matters to you. If you don't vote, others will make those decisions for you.
Think about it: last time, only a fraction of Texans participated in the primary election. Many voters think that they should wait till November, but that leaves a tiny group making big decisions for all of us. Your vote has power, especially in a primary, where turnout is low. Don't miss the chance to be part of the group that influences what happens next in Texas.
Here's how easy it is to vote in the primaries:
1. Check Your Registration: Make sure you're registered.
2. Pick Your Party: At the polling place, be prepared to tell them whether you're voting in the Republican or Democrat primary.
3. Show ID and Make a Pledge: Bring a photo ID and sign a pledge not to vote in another party's primary this election cycle.
4. Vote: Choose your preferred candidates and proposals in that party.
You don't need to belong to a party to vote in its primary in Texas, unlike some states. You can check out what's on the ballot ahead of time on your county's election page.
With early voting happening between Feb. 20 - Mar. 1, now's the time to make a plan to vote and share with your family, friends, colleagues and communities why this vote matters. A vote in this primary election is the key to making sure Texas reflects what we all care about, not just the priorities of very few people.
Thanks for doing your part for the future of Texas.
